The last month has been full of a lot of ups and downs for my little family. With realtives visiting, Andrew trudging through a summer semester, and a not-so-happy-teething baby (I swear that kid teethes 24/7), we've kind of been running on fumes. The busyness of everything has really dampened my creativity and my spirits.

Shell Island: Our "Mini" Adventure
I'm not really the adventurous kind of gal. I'd much rather be at home with a great book or cuddled up with my little family watching Disney movies. And I really just love my PJ's.

It Won't Be Like This For Long
Being a mom is such an underrated job. Before I had Oliver, I knew that motherhood was a hard job, but I have never been able to fully understand how hard it is until now. Even when Oliver was just a tiny infant, I still really had no idea how tough this job could be. With a walking-talking-mess-making-tantrum-throwing 11 month old, I am starting to get a better idea of what it really takes to be not just a mother, but a mommy.

Giving Up and Why It's Sometimes Okay
After reading the title of this, the first thought that will jump into my husband's mind is "What craft did she start this time?!".
Fortunately for him, this is not at all what I'm referring to. Most people think of "giving up" as a derogatory phrase. They associate it with weakness and poor planning. Giving up often pairs with another phase, "easy way out", which is an equally negative notion. All these thinkings can be right in most situations. The fallacy falls in using this association in ALL situations.

The Epidemic of Rudeness
As a new member of the blogging community, I often read a variety of other blogs to get inspiration for my own writings. Most of the blogs I read have passive topics and opinions with writers that want to just spread a message. Most bloggers don't have any intentions on hurting feelings or being rude. There are bold opinions, but most of the time, they are just stated opinions- something you can take or leave. What is surprising though isn't the articles being written (or at least the ones I'm reading), but the comments that are left on these articles.

6 Ways to Get Through Hard Things
Yesterday morning as I was getting ready for the dreaded 9 A.M. church, I sat on our bed and just cried. I had just tried on every skirt I owned trying to find one that fit. I still don't understand how the scale can say I lost two pounds that week, yet my clothes seem to be fitting more snug than loose. I sat and thought about how much I couldn't stand myself for all the little poor eating choices I had made over the week. I knew that the aftermath of what pregnancy does to your body sucked, but I didn't realize how hard it would make my life.

5 Ways to Make a Happier Home
Because I have only been married for just under 2 years and have only been a mother just short of 9 months, many people would argue that I don't have enough "experience" to write about a topic like this one. But even in the short amount of time that my little family has been together, Andrew and I have noticed a difference in our home life and other people's home life. Andrew and I talk often about what we are doing wrong in our lives and how we can fix it. Here are a few of the conclusions we have come to concerning happiness in our home.

Sunday Afternoons
We have mixed emotions about 9 AM church. We have to get up so early to get ourselves and Mr. Oliver ready all in time to leave 30 minutes before church so we can actually make it in good timing. But on the up-side, we have a whole afternoon to be lazy and just be together.
